A couple weekends ago, we went to Depoe Bay (the worlds smallest harbor) to celebrate hubby's birthday, and just get out of town for a few days. You know we are always looking for a good excuse to go to the coast, so when I found a really great Groupon a few months ago, I booked it.
We stayed at a sweet little bed and breakfast right in front of the marina, called Harbor Lights Inn, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were freshly painted, and newly decorated each with their own decor, the bed was amazingly comfortable... We had chocolates and wine in our room. The breakfast was fantastic, and we loved that they also offered dinner, or room service if you asked, with a full bar and lounge onsite, if you wanted to belly up after a long day on the beach, or ocean fishing, or whale watching, if that's what you came here for...
The staff were incredibly friendly, and made you feel like family.
The grounds were well kept, clean, and best of all, dog friendly.
Frank and the resident pooch were buddies almost instantly...
And it was really neat to watch the boats come in and out of the harbor. We never got a chance to photograph one of the larger boats coming through, but even the smaller ones made it look like a skill you definitely had to learn. It might not look like much, but there is a trick to getting in and out of here. Can you believe the national coast guard resides in this tiny little place?
The Oregon coast can be rocky in some places beachy in others, so we did a lot of walking around locally and just checking things out, since it's more rocky in this area.
And I couldn't help but take a picture of this house. I loved everything about it, so unique.
I can only imagine what the view on the other side looks like... or maybe how many windows it might have. the ocean is back there!
Next I'll show you our trip to Driftwood Beach. And yes, there was a lot of driftwood. :)
Hope your week is going well so far, and for those of you who are back in school, or have kido's in school... hope this new year brings lots of learning and blessings, and fun!
