It Starts with Passion.

I mentioned a while back that I'd finished reading
The Martha Rules, and wanted to share it with you, but it's been a couple months now, and the truth is that I've decided to read it again.

I loved this book, and was so inspired by her no nonsense kind of wisdom, that I found it easy to get back to work, and find focus in what I was doing...

The book ended with rule #10, Make it Beautiful... and I think that's when things clicked for me.  It's always been clear that my mission was 'to bring joy to people's lives by everyday simplicities', such as a nice bar of soap... but I didn't realize that this was my purpose until very recently.  And when I realized what it meant to live and work with purpose, rather than simply with passion... everything around me started to click.  Which is why I've decided I'm going to read The Martha Rules, again.

Chapter 1 - What's Passion got to do with it?

We must have passion.  Passion is where it all begins.  You find joy in something, you have passion and endless ideas for it.  You can't wait to wake up in the morning and get to work.  You can't wait to share your passion with others, and you can't wait for success to find it's way into your world, because you've got so much passion.

Passion is what fuels the fire.  Passion is what keeps us working and pushing to get projects done at the late hours of night or even the wee hours of the morning.  Passion is what keeps the creative mind open to new ideas, and Passion is what gives us that never give up attitude, that we need to be creative entrepreneurs.

Martha says, "Build your business success around something that you love.  Something that is inherently and endlessly interesting to you."

Living with Passion is not work, living with passion is a Lifestyle.

I think many of us creative types are full of passion for a lot of things, some of them simple some of them more specific... we might find passion in cooking, or gardening, or decorating, or fashion... we might find passion in reading or writing, or photographing the world around us.  We might find passion in music or science, math, or sports.  Many of the things we enjoy, and even more so, many of the things we are good at... all start with a root of passion.

What really makes you click?  What is it that you are so passionate about?

Oh, Martha Stewart. What is there to say about her? She certainly knows how to reinvent herself in the public eye.

My passion is animals so I'm doing what I can to help by making jewelry which I enjoy. My passion certainly isn't doing taxes but it pays well so I stick to it and wish I could be doing something else every day.
